it doesn't matter if you have them. if God says, "Stay put," you have to stare at them in your closet and only with you were in them and that you were running. so very far away from all that is hurting you.
You know, this reminds me a little bit about a story Jenn Johnson shared once. She hated running. Despised it. And God told her He wanted her to run one morning for a certain amount of miles. So she whined and complained a bit, but she did it. He asked her to do that for maybe, 6-9 months? I can't remember. But she did it. And then one morning while she was tying up her laces God said "No that's ok, you don't have to run today. But thank you." And it was just a thing He was teaching her about trust in their relationship. Kinda a little opposite of what you wrote, but it reminded me about it.
