The Bird that Chose to Walk

by: anna molinari

hate is the collar i wear around my neck

and i've given you the leash

you follow my commands to tighten my noose with no regret

there's no looking back

it's too late now

i've made my mistakes

i gave you that key a long time ago

and now it seems you have it all

give it back

give it all back, you dirty thief

give it back and get the hell out

you had your chance and we ruined it all

you've got your victory now

your triumph is my demise

and it thrives within my hate

get out, you thief

get out, you liar

don't ever come back

you had your chance

and now you insist on another

you sucker for pain

you leech

you lustful leech

you're sucking me dry

and I watch with hateful eyes

why can't my hate just die

and then will you die along with it

will its death be my guarantee

will you just let me be then

will you exhale one last time and finally walk away

God, i hope so.

and if that's true then give me the strength i need

God, i want to let go

i need to let go

i wanted to hate him and now i do

but what an ironic ending

my hate is his vengeance and so i've proved my humanity right

God, i can't live like this so set me free.

i'm sorry i clipped my wings

i'm sorry i chose not to fly

God, i'm Yours.

this life is Yours.

everything in it.

make me new and show me truth.

Daddy, it's time.

teach me how to fly.

  1. Wow...I so want me heart to be there. To realize that forgiving someone is really for me, not the other person. To realize that it's just constraining myself.
